All applications should be accompanied by a cover letter addressed to the Town Manager that clearly states the position or positions that you want to be considered for and whether the application should be put on file and held to be considered for possible future openings. PLEASE NOTE: It is our current policy to hold applications for up to 1 year to be considered for future openings.

The Town of Thomaston’s Police Department is seeking applications to hire three fulltime Patrol Officers. The successful candidates shall be responsible for efficient performance of required duties in conformance with the rules, regulations, and policies within the Town and Maine State Law. The police department offers a four on four off schedule position with benefits such as paid vacation after one year, 12 paid holidays, and Maine Public Employees Retirement. The Town is currently in negotiations on a family health care plan that will be offered.
Applicants should be prepared for a vigorous back ground check, Polygraph and Psychological exam, along with passing the Maine Criminal Justice Academy physical fitness standards.
The Thomaston Police Department is a community driven police department with a team effort approach to law enforcement.
Requirements include: possess a valid Maine Driver’s License, no traffic or criminal convictions for the past 3 years, be 21 years of age and have completed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy pre-service training. Applications can be picked up at the Town Office at 170 Main Street or call 354-6107 to request a copy.
