TOWN MANAGER - THOMASTON MAINE

The Town of Thomaston Maine (2,767pop.) is seeking an experienced, professional, community leader to serve as its next Town Manager. Thomaston, located in the heart of Mid-Coast Maine neighboring the City of Rockland, is a picturesque New England Community nestled hillside overlooking the scenic St. George River. Its historical downtown along with its welcoming small-town feel emphasizes its motto - A Place You Want to Be!   

Thomaston operates under the Select Board/Manager form of government with a 5 member Select Board elected town wide and serving 3-year staggered terms. It has 19 full time employees and averages 74 part time employees. Its annual budget is $4,472,879 including a pollution control facility. It is part of Regional School Unit 13.

The Select Board is seeking candidates with a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated municipal management experience as a Manager or similar related position. Candidates with equivalent private management experience will be accepted. Knowledge/experience in areas of economic development, finance, strategic and long-term planning, budgeting, labor relations, policy and project management are desired.  Superior visionary with excellent leadership and organizational skills; excellent written and oral communicator with strong collaborative and team building experience are required. Leadership with integrity, honesty, openness and humor combined with creative problem solving will be essential. The successful candidate is expected to become an active member of the community and residency in Thomaston is desired but not mandatory.

Applicants possessing a Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, or a closely related field, with a Master’s degree preferred. Salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications.

RESERVE OFFICER JOB OPENING POSTED 11/26/18

The Thomaston Police Department, serving a growing community in the Mid-Coast region, is seeking candidates for three immediate Reserve Officer positions.

All of these positions would potentially involve working part-time in a patrol officer role. Thomaston Police Department is looking for two of these positions to be available to work a full-time schedule from January 2019 to Mid-June 2019.

Certification as a reserve or fully certified officer in Maine, or the ability to transfer an out of state certification is a minimum requirement. The pay rate for these positions is $16.11 per hour for part-time certified officers and $19.67 for full-time certified academy graduates. Applicants may expect an interview process, physical fitness and medical test, a background investigation and polygraph and psychological examinations.
