The Town of Thomaston is establishing Watts Hall, corner of Main and Knox Streets as a temporary shelter site during the hurricane event Sunday or Monday.

The Fire Department will be manned for rescue and emergency calls. All requests for assistance should be forwarded through 911 as typical. The Knox County Emergency Management Association is setting up other shelter centers as well.

Most residents will be able to stay in their own homes. However, elderly and special needs individuals should make prior contact with the Thomaston Fire Department at 354-6345 if they need to be transported to a disaster relief shelter.

The Federated Church on Hyler Street will also open its doors to provide shelter and you can contact the Reverend Jackie Brannen at (207) 242-2770 for more information about their shelter.

Depending on the tract the hurricane follows, the Town Office will be closed on Monday.
