The Maine200 Organization released a flag to represent the commemoration of Maine’s 200 years of Independence. The Select board in Thomaston voted to purchase and display a flag in the Select Board room at the Thomaston Municipal Building.
A suggestion came from Tim Hoppe, Thomaston’s Police Chief, to display flags on Main St along with the American flags; a yearly display of 22 flags, 11 on each side of Main St.
A member of the Select Board, Sandy Moore, purchased 11 Bicentennial flags wholesale through the Maine200 Org. 11 Thomaston businesses/organizations liked the idea of purchasing one of the flags for Main Street and a Bicentennial display was born.
Thank you for your “Thomaston Pride.”
